Ryan-Zachernuk duo captures mixed doubles gold

The pairing of Hailey Ryan of Manitoba and Nick Zachernuk of Nova Scotia, with coach Dean Kleiter of Saskatchewan, captured the gold medal in the mixed doubles tournament at the 2017 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, presented by Ambrosia Apples.

The mixed doubles tournament featured all of the players and coaches who didn’t qualify for the playoffs at the Canadian Juniors.

Ryan and Zachernuk were 6-4 winners over Kayla Russell (New Brunswick) and Colton Goller (Alberta), with coach Trudie Walsh (Northwest Territories).

Émilia Gagné (Quebec) and Liam Gregory (N.L.), with coach John Lund (Manitoba), won the bronze medal with a 6-3 triumph over Christianne West (Nunavut) and Kurtis Goller (Alberta), with coach Kevin Smith (P.E.I.).
