Overall, more than 13.7 million Canadians, or close to half the population, have tuned in to watch some of TSN’s extensive curling coverage this season.
Anyone who thinks a curling club isn’t an important and respected part of its community should take a look at the three hard-working clubs whose efforts resulted in two $25,000 grants and stops on TSN’s Kraft Celebration Tour.
What do the Bathurst Curling Club, Club de Curling Chicoutimi and the Kakabeka Falls Curling Club have in common? They’re all in the running for individual $25,000 grants as part of TSN’s annual Kraft Celebration Tour, the competition for community sports facilities decided by online votes.
All week, TSN has been working behind the scenes to provide curling coverage for fans to enjoy from the comfort of their homes. Producer Scott Higgins commands a crew of over forty people including audio technicians, cameramen, floor managers, graphic operators, television assistants, engineers, directors and other producers.
Bell Media’s TSN and the Canadian Curling Association (CCA) announced today they are enhancing their partnership with a long-term multimedia rights extension. As part of the new deal, TSN continues to be the home of curling in Canada through to the 2019-20 season with exclusive Canadian rights to Season of Champions events.
The new deal also includes extended French-language coverage on Bell Media’s RDS and RDS2 – ensuring more French-language curling coverage than ever before with 250 hours of Season of Champions coverage. Multiple other components and activation strategies, such as Continental Cup coverage in Olympic years and guaranteed broadcasting of the new Pre-trials Road to the Roar, have been established to help to continue to grow the sport across Canada.
