Tim Hortons Brier Provincial qualifying status updates – Quebec

As provincial and territorial qualifying events take place across the country leading up to the 2011 Tim Hortons Brier in London, we’re keeping you up-to-date on all the latest developments. Here’s the news from Quebec. The field for the Quebec Tankard Championship at Gatineau’s Buckingham Curling Club, January 30 – February 6, is now complete. Serge Reid and his Team Quebec incumbents have their bags packed for the Buckingham shootout, along with Jean Sébastien Roy, Martin Ferland and Jean-Michel Ménard.  Six more teams survived regional and zone play to earn a berth in the final competition to determine who makes the trip to London in early March. The ever-popular Guy Hemmings will be shooting for a fifth Brier appearance after qualifying with his Etchemin-based team in the East playdowns.  Kénogami’s Yannick Martel and Franḉois Gagné – representing Chicoutimi/TMR – also moved on to Gatineau through East play. Lacolle’s Daniel Bédard, Longue-Pointe’s Michel Briand and Frederic Lawton, curling out of Baie d’Urfé/Glenmore, advanced from the West playdowns to challenge for the provincial title.
