But before fans pack the arena in the city’s historic downtown region, organizers are looking for more volunteers to perform a variety of roles so vital to hosting the event. “We’re extremely pleased with the enthusiasm of the community and the interest of so many people to get involved in the Scotties,” commented Ken Thompson, Host Committee Chair.  “But we still have some key volunteer positions available that we’re hoping to fill in the near future.” The volunteer force presently stands at 346 and the committee has a requirement for a total of 428 people.  Specific areas being recruited include banking, bar services, program sales and security and accreditation.  The positions will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis so the sooner you register, the better choice you have. Those interested can apply online by clicking here. “For anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to volunteer for a championship of this stature, they’re sure to enjoy the experience,” said Thompson.  “It’s an excellent chance to see the best athletes in the sport from an up close and personal perspective.  Plus, it’s a great way to make a lot of new friends… and that will start with our first Volunteer Rally which will take place in the fall.” “You Gotta Be There” when the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts makes its first visit to Kingston.  As a volunteer you have access to the entire week of the championship.  And if you’re one of the fans, purchase your full event pass now just by clicking here.
