With the Markets Done it’s Time for Curling Fun in Penticton

Fresh off a full schedule of summer and fall events, the outset of a new season on the pebbled ice has volunteers for the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup shifting their focus to curling-related activities in the Okanagan Valley.Over the past several months the promotions team has been on the scene to take part in everything from golf tournaments and dragon boat races to community festivals and the ever-popular farmers markets… creating awareness for one of international curling’s most prestigious championships heading to the South Okanagan Events Centre January 10-13. Now that the curlers are starting to slide out of the hacks, volunteers will be spending a lot of time at local rinks in the upcoming weeks promoting the event at open houses, member registrations and encouraging everyone to get involved in the Okanagan Cool Shots Championship. Cool Shots competitions will take place in the Penticton, Osoyoos, Oliver, Vernon and Kelowna curling clubs where members can test their skills in the small-scale version of the roaring game.  Weekly winners will face off to determine club champions that will move on to the playoffs in the Patch during the World Financial Group Continental Cup. Prizes will be awarded to weekly winners and champions from each club as well as the overall Okanagan Cool Shots Champion who will also pick up some cash for their home club. “You Gotta Be There” for all the fun in the Patch and the excitement on the ice when the game’s big-time curlers come to Penticton for the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup of Curling.  The Double Impact package, with two tickets for five specified draws at just $169, is on sale until October 30th.  Reserve your seats now by clicking here.
