McEwen Ready to Move Up to Number One in Moose Jaw

A second place finish in the Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) at the conclusion of last season’s schedule earned Manitoba’s Mike McEwen team a coveted spot in the 2012 Capital One Canada Cup of Curling in Moose Jaw. Skipping one of the hottest young teams on the competitive circuit, McEwen will be coming to Mosaic Place, November 28-December 2, looking for a strong start to the new curling campaign with a Capital One Canada Cup title… and direct entry to a home-town appearance at the 2013 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings in Winnipeg. It marked the second consecutive year McEwen took the number two spot in the CTRS standings.  The team – including B.J. Neufeld, Matt Wozniak and Denni Neufeld – also settled for runner-up status in the province’s Tim Hortons Brier provincial playdowns the past two years. In 2011, they lost the championship final to Jeff Stoughton who moved on to victory at the 2011 Tim Hortons Brier in London and the Ford World Men’s Curling Championship in Regina.  Last year, it was Brandon’s Rob Fowler who defeated the McEwen crew to head on to Saskatoon for the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier. But, everyone in the curling world knows, it’s just a matter of time before the McEwen team makes the major breakthrough to the number one spot on the podium.  And, it could happen right here in Moose Jaw at the Capital One Canada Cup! “You Gotta Be There” when the top 14 teams in the country come to Mosaic Place to compete in one of the most important events of their curling careers.  Make sure you’re there for all the action – reserve your seats now by clicking here.
