Job Title: Head Ice Technician
Job Type: Contract Position running from Sept.15 to April 15 annually
Start Date: Flexible

The Ilderton Curling Club is currently recruiting for the position of Head Ice Technician. The
Head Ice Technician will work with the Director of Operations, and the rest of the staff to
provide an exceptional experience for our 450 members. In Ilderton we have 4 sheets, and an
excellent reputation for our ice, and we are looking for an individual who will carry on that
tradition. The Head Ice Technician will work as part of a team of new and experienced ice
technicians. The Ilderton curling club is fully committed to providing a positive, inclusive work
environment, with the highest safety standards. The Head Ice Technician will be able to work a
flexible schedule that will include days, evenings, and weekends.

Description:
The Head Ice Technician will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
• Installation of the ice before the season begins (including flooding, painting, placing
houses, and in-ice logos)
• Ice maintenance, which includes scraping, pebbling, and nipping before regular league
play and as required for bonspiels and other events, possible flooding as required
• Maintain a log of ice conditions and equipment maintenance
• Remove ice, and facility clean-up at the end of the season
• Work with Director of Operations, and other team members to ensure safety, care, and
maintenance of the facility
• Other duties as required

Requirements:
The Ilderton Curling Club is looking for a candidate with some, or all of the below attributes.
These attributes are seen as desirable but NOT mandatory for the candidate to be successful in
obtaining this position. Some certifications may be necessary for this position. Where a
candidate does not currently hold that accreditation, a willingness to obtain with a reasonable
time frame is acceptable.

• Ice Making Experience
• Minimum level 1 Ice Technician Course
• Experience with customer service or in a member-focused organization
• First Aid/AED Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to October 2022)
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
• Preference given to candidates with experience in curling, and the non-profit sector
• Vulnerable Sector Check (this is a mandatory requirement prior to any confirmation of
employment)

References
The ICC may contact prospective candidates for a list of three (3) references. They shall consist
of at least one (1) character reference, and one (1) previous work experience reference.
