Tippin et son quatuor de Woodstock, Ont., \u2014 troisi\u00e8me Chantal Duhaime, deuxi\u00e8me Rachelle Vink, premi\u00e8re Tess Bobbie et l\u2019entra\u00eeneur Barry Westman \u2014 ont sign\u00e9 leur deuxi\u00e8me victoire cons\u00e9cutive mercredi soir dans l\u2019ar\u00e9na Credit Union Place, une d\u00e9cision incontest\u00e9e 7-3 sur Theresa Breen, de Halifax (2-2).<\/p>\n

En vertu de cette victoire, \u00c9quipe Tippin (2-1) partage la t\u00eate de classement de Groupe A de ce tournoi \u00e0 14 \u00e9quipes tri\u00e9es en deux groupes, avec l\u2019Edmontonienne Kelsey Rocque, qui a subi sa premi\u00e8re d\u00e9faite mercredi.<\/p>\n

Tippin a dit que la d\u00e9faite de premi\u00e8re journ\u00e9e contre la Winnip\u00e9goise Shannon Birchard ne les a pas trop \u00e9branl\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

\u00abBref, nous n\u2019avons pas eu beaucoup d\u2019\u00e9lan pour commencer; nous nous d\u00e9battions un peu avec la glace quand l\u2019air \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur \u00e9tait relativement humide, donc nous n\u2019avons pas ma\u00eetris\u00e9 la pesanteur de placement,\u00bb a indiqu\u00e9 Tippin, 34 ans. \u00abMais depuis lors, la glace a \u00e9t\u00e9 compl\u00e8tement diff\u00e9rente. Il fait beaucoup plus frais \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur maintenant, donc il n\u2019y a pas de givre, et nos placements sont devenus beaucoup plus constants en cons\u00e9quence. Et d\u2019ailleurs, nous jouons beaucoup mieux globalement.\u00bb<\/p>\n

Cette ma\u00eetrise de la force a \u00e9t\u00e9 un facteur important dans la s\u00e9rie de deux victoires sur deux matchs pour cette \u00e9quipe, incluant une d\u00e9cision 7-5 mardi sur la Calgaroise Nadine Scotland.<\/p>\n

\u00abNous savions qu\u2019une fois que nous d\u00e9chiffrions la pesanteur de placement, nous serions d\u2019autant plus fortes,\u00bb a-t-elle dit. \u00abAvoir confiance dans la pesanteur, c\u2019est tr\u00e8s important, sp\u00e9cialement pour le skip. Il faut \u00eatre capable de placer une pierre dans le cercle des quatre pieds et ce, en tout temps. Si vous ne savez pas le faire, vous n\u2019avez pas vraiment la possibilit\u00e9 de gagner. Aujourd\u2019hui je me sentais beaucoup plus confiante; j\u2019avais un bon sens de la pesanteur.\u00bb<\/p>\n

Tippin, qui a jou\u00e9 \u00e0 88 pour cent contre \u00c9quipe Breen, a ouvert une avance rapide, avec un point au premier bout, un vol de deux points au troisi\u00e8me bout, et encore un autre au quatri\u00e8me bout, ce apr\u00e8s quoi elle n\u2019avait plus \u00e0 se soucier.<\/p>\n

La victoire a pr\u00e9par\u00e9 la voie \u00e0 une belle soir\u00e9e avec les proches qui les a accompagn\u00e9es \u00e0 Summerside\u00a0: toute la bande a r\u00e9serv\u00e9 une des loges de luxe dans Credit Union Place, de sorte que l\u2019\u00e9quipe puisse se relaxer un peu et, pour quelques heures, \u00e9carter de leurs esprits les pressions de cet important tournoi.<\/p>\n

\u00abOn a r\u00e9serv\u00e9 cette loge il y a longtemps,\u00bb a dit Tippin dans un sourire. \u00abJe pense que nous avions 23 proches ici aujourd\u2019hui \u2013 des amis, de la famille, des commanditaires \u2013 c\u2019est vraiment sympa. Nous avons un excellent r\u00e9seau de soutien. Et \u00e7a rend l\u2019exp\u00e9rience d\u2019autant plus douce. Nous passons du temps avec nos proches entre nos matchs; nous allons d\u00eener ensemble, et en fin de compte c\u2019est un s\u00e9jour tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able. Nous avons fait pas mal de planification avant de venir, et nous nous sommes assur\u00e9es de programmer du temps au-del\u00e0 de l\u2019ar\u00e9na. Nous avons beaucoup voyag\u00e9, et nous trouvons que si nous faisons l\u2019effort de sortir, faire du tourisme, essayer des activit\u00e9s hors de la normale, cela nous convient tr\u00e8s bien.\u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00c0 l\u2019autre bout de l\u2019ar\u00e9na, Rocque et son \u00e9quipe edmontonienne ont essuy\u00e9 leur premi\u00e8re d\u00e9faite, une d\u00e9cision 7-5 remport\u00e9e par \u00c9quipe Birchard (2-2).<\/p>\n

Aux autres affrontements f\u00e9minins (les hommes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 exempt\u00e9s de cette ronde), la Winnip\u00e9goise Briane Meilleur (2-2) a flanqu\u00e9 une premi\u00e8re d\u00e9faite \u00e0 Kerri Einarson (2-1; East St. Paul, Man.) par la marque de 8-3; Jacqueline Harrison (2-1; Mississauga, Ont.) a r\u00e9ussi un placement au bouton en bout suppl\u00e9mentaire pour arracher une victoire 8-7 \u00e0 Darcy Robertson, de Winnipeg (1-3); et \u00c9quipe Scotland (2-2) l\u2019a emport\u00e9 6-3 sur Shannon Kleibrink (1-2; Okotoks, Alta.).<\/p>\n

Aux Pr\u00e9-Essais, les \u00e9quipes sont class\u00e9es d\u2019une \u00e0 14 sur la base de leur rang au classement SCEC 2016-17 puis tri\u00e9es en deux groupes de sept pour disputer un tournoi \u00e0 la ronde initial.<\/p>\n

Les \u00e9quipes qui terminent aux trois premiers rangs dans chaque groupe acc\u00e8deront aux \u00e9liminatoires, qui commencent samedi le 11 novembre, o\u00f9 les \u00e9quipes aux premier et deuxi\u00e8me rangs s\u2019affronteront \u00e0 leurs pairs de l\u2019autre groupe \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re ronde de S\u00e9rie A. Les deux \u00e9quipes qui en sortiront victorieuses de cette ronde s\u2019affronteront pour d\u00e9cider laquelle mettra la main sur la premi\u00e8re des deux qualifications aux Essais Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings.<\/p>\n

Dans l\u2019intervalle, les deux \u00e9quipes perdantes en premi\u00e8re ronde \u00e9liminatoire s\u2019affronteront aux \u00e9quipes qui auront termin\u00e9 au troisi\u00e8me rang du classement de tournoi \u00e0 la ronde. Les gagnants de cette premi\u00e8re ronde de s\u00e9rie B s\u2019affronteront par la suite, et celle qui pr\u00e9vaudra continuera par s\u2019affronter \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe perdante de la finale en S\u00e9rie A, pour r\u00e9colter l\u2019autre qualification aux Essais Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings.<\/p>\n

Les Pr\u00e9-Essais Home Hardware Road to the Roar sont le dernier \u00e9v\u00e8nement de qualification pour acc\u00e9der aux Essais canadiens de curling Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings,<\/a> du 2 au 10 d\u00e9cembre \u00e0 Ottawa, o\u00f9 seront d\u00e9termin\u00e9s les deux quatuors masculin et f\u00e9minin qui repr\u00e9senteront le Canada aux Jeux Olympiques d\u2019hiver 2018 \u00e0 Pyeong-Chang, Cor\u00e9e du Sud.<\/p>\n
