La col\u00e8re, la tristesse et le d\u00e9go\u00fbt sont souvent faciles \u00e0 rep\u00e9rer sur le visage des athl\u00e8tes, et l&rsquo;impact de ces \u00e9motions peut \u00eatre un obstacle aux objectifs que les athl\u00e8tes s&rsquo;efforcent d&rsquo;atteindre. Dans ces moments-l\u00e0, il est courant d&rsquo;entendre les gens commencer \u00e0 murmurer que le \u00ab&nbsp;psychologue sportif&nbsp;\u00bb de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe va devoir se mettre au travail pour aider \u00e0 \u00ab&nbsp;r\u00e9parer&nbsp;\u00bb les pots cass\u00e9s.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La v\u00e9rit\u00e9 est que nous nous sommes mis au travail il y a quatre ans afin de pr\u00e9parer ces Jeux, et les athl\u00e8tes ont travaill\u00e9 tout aussi dur presque tous les jours depuis. Notre quatri\u00e8me, Jon Thurston, par exemple, suit une formation de pleine conscience, souvent deux fois par jour, depuis quatre ans. C&rsquo;est plus de 1 500 s\u00e9ances de m\u00e9ditation (250 \u00e0 300 heures!) qui l&rsquo;ont aid\u00e9 \u00e0 apprendre \u00e0 g\u00e9rer, reconna\u00eetre et accepter ses pens\u00e9es et ses \u00e9motions et, peut-\u00eatre le plus important, \u00e0 se recentrer sur un objectif choisi. Donc, nous ne nous mettons pas au travail apr\u00e8s quelques revers. Il est beaucoup plus facile de soutenir des athl\u00e8tes qui, m\u00eame s&rsquo;ils ne gagnent pas, performent toujours \u00e0 un niveau de classe mondiale et atteignent la plupart de leurs objectifs.<br>Aider les athl\u00e8tes \u00e0 gagner en confiance et \u00e0 recadrer leurs \u00e9motions ou pens\u00e9es inutiles devient plus facile lorsque vous pouvez fournir des donn\u00e9es de performance concr\u00e8tes qui brossent un tableau beaucoup plus optimiste que celui d\u00e9peint par leurs \u00e9motions. Il est \u00e9galement important de leur rappeler que nous avons un processus qui, \u00e0 long terme, nous apportera le succ\u00e8s. Nous n&rsquo;essayons pas de cr\u00e9er la confiance \u00e0 partir de rien, nous avons une \u00e9quipe tr\u00e8s comp\u00e9tente et de nombreuses donn\u00e9es et exp\u00e9riences v\u00e9cues sur lesquelles nous pouvons nous<br>appuyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le sport de haut niveau consiste \u00e0 rechercher continuellement le 1 % &#8211; les petits d\u00e9tails, les strat\u00e9gies ou les tactiques qui augmenteront nos chances de succ\u00e8s. Nous avons cr\u00e9\u00e9 un \u00ab&nbsp;processus&nbsp;\u00bb (une s\u00e9rie de routines et de plans de match), un plan qui optimise nos chances de succ\u00e8s. Nous avons un personnel et un groupe d&rsquo;athl\u00e8tes qui croient pleinement \u00e0 ce processus.<br>&nbsp;<br>Nous voyons notre processus un peu comme un casino o\u00f9 \u00ab la maison gagne toujours \u00bb. Il y aura toujours des gens qui partageront leurs histoires de succ\u00e8s au casino, comment ils ont \u00ab&nbsp;gagner le gros lot&nbsp;\u00bb apr\u00e8s \u00eatre arriv\u00e9 avec 50 $ puis reparti avec quelques centaines. La maison paiera de temps en temps. Cependant, \u00e0 long terme, la maison r\u00e9cup\u00e9rera cet argent (et plus). Nous l&rsquo;avons vu aujourd&rsquo;hui lorsque nous avons connu des rat\u00e9s qui, nous le savions, \u00e9taient in\u00e9vitables. Nous avons obtenu quelques bons r\u00e9sultats. En bref, nous n&rsquo;avons pas chang\u00e9 beaucoup de choses, car notre processus \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 solide et nous savions que les victoires viendraient &#8211; et continueront de venir.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Certes, il y a eu une certaine frustration apr\u00e8s trois d\u00e9faites cons\u00e9cutives, et il est important de reconna\u00eetre et de valider ces r\u00e9actions \u00e9motionnelles naturelles et normales. Quand j&rsquo;ai commenc\u00e9 dans ce m\u00e9tier, j&rsquo;essayais d&rsquo;aider les gens \u00e0 se sentir \u00ab&nbsp;mieux&nbsp;\u00bb dans ces moments-l\u00e0 en essayant de remplacer les \u00ab&nbsp;mauvais&nbsp;\u00bb sentiments et pens\u00e9es par des \u00ab&nbsp;bons&nbsp;\u00bb. J&rsquo;ai appris au fil des ans qu&rsquo;il faut cr\u00e9er un espace pour permettre \u00e0 ces sentiments de s&rsquo;exprimer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">librement et de les partager ouvertement. Il est important de valider ces sentiments. Nous avons le droit d&rsquo;\u00eatre frustr\u00e9s &#8211; nous avons tous travaill\u00e9 incroyablement dur pour en arriver l\u00e0, et aucun de nous ne veut que le r\u00eave s\u2019envole en raison de quelques coups opportuns ou improbables des autres \u00e9quipes. Vous devez donner un peu de temps et d&rsquo;espace aux gens pour g\u00e9rer leurs \u00e9motions.<br>&nbsp;<br>Cependant, vous devez \u00e9galement fixer une limite en termes de temps. \u00c0 un moment donn\u00e9, \u00e7a suffit, et vous devez passer \u00e0 autre chose. C&rsquo;est une chose de ressentir ces \u00e9motions et quelque chose de tout \u00e0 fait diff\u00e9rent de permettre \u00e0 ces \u00e9motions d&rsquo;avoir un impact n\u00e9gatif sur vos actions et vos d\u00e9cisions. Nous avons laiss\u00e9 sortir nos frustrations dans le vestiaire, mais une fois dans l\u2019autobus, nous avons fait jouer de la musique, racont\u00e9 des blagues et recommenc\u00e9 \u00e0 regarder vers l&rsquo;avant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cela a \u00e9galement aid\u00e9 \u00e0 faire quelque chose de totalement diff\u00e9rent et \u00e0 entrer dans un \u00e9tat d&rsquo;esprit diff\u00e9rent. Nous avons pris des nouvelles de nos familles, avons jou\u00e9 \u00e0 des jeux et avons essay\u00e9 de passer du temps ensemble dans un cadre diff\u00e9rent.<br>&nbsp;<br>L&rsquo;autre partie plus effac\u00e9e de cette aventure est le repos et la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration. Nous avons eu des journ\u00e9es fractionn\u00e9es cons\u00e9cutives avec des matchs t\u00f4t le matin et des matchs tard le soir. Nous avons \u00e9labor\u00e9 (et suivi avec succ\u00e8s) un plan pour optimiser le repos et la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration au cours des derniers jours, mais cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 difficile en raison du calendrier de comp\u00e9tition. Nous avons pr\u00e9vu des siestes l&rsquo;apr\u00e8s-midi et nous nous sommes endormis aussi vite que possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heureusement, nous avions cong\u00e9 ce matin, donc il n&rsquo;y avait pas d&rsquo;urgence \u00e0 sortir du lit. Nous avons bu nos frapp\u00e9s aux fruits matinaux habituels ensemble et avons eu tout le temps dont nous avions besoin pour nous pr\u00e9parer pour notre match de 14 h 30. Apr\u00e8s une bonne nuit de sommeil et une matin\u00e9e d\u00e9tendue, il y avait visiblement plus d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie et de confiance lors de notre victoire contre la Grande-Bretagne. Gr\u00e2ce au processus que nous avons mis en place il y a quatre ans, le casino a retrouv\u00e9 le chemin de la victoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comme le dit notre capitaine,
