Biography / Biographie:

Norm Balderston served locally as a member and president of the Moose Jaw Curling Club.  He also served on the host committees for the 1979 World Junior Curling Championship and 1983 World Ladies’ Curling Championship, both held in Moose Jaw.

Balderston served as district umpire, and was a member of the board of directors for the Saskatchewan Curling Association  (SCA) from 1960 to 1966, becoming the first president in 1966. He has also held the positions of secretary, manager and executive director of the SCA, from 1966 to 1980.  During his tenure, Norm implemented many innovations, including changes to the Saskatchewan playdown structure and changes to the administration of club fees.

Norm was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1988.
