Clarence W. ‘Shorty’ Jenkins was the only inductee into the Curling Hall of Fame in the builder category in 2001.

Jenkins has been involved in the world of curling as a master icemaker since 1967. He holds level IV ice technician certification from the Canadian Curling Association and is a certifies national ice technician instructor. He has taught courses from levels I to III across Canada and around the world since 1980.

However, Jenkins is best known for the excellent ice surfaces he has provided for many Canadian men’s, women’s and world curling championships. He has also been the official ice maker for the TSN Skins Game and the Ontario Curling Association for many years.

Recognized as an innovator in ice technology, Jenkins developed such concepts as the use of a stopwatch for split times, “clipping” pebble and the use of ice temperature probes.
