Former Canadian Curling Association president Judy Veinot of Montreal passed away on March 7, 2012, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 77.

Veinot was a dedicated volunteer but her primary focus was curling and her main ambition was to improve the sportat noth local and national level.

Her curling administration career was launched in 1975, when she became a member of the women’s executive at the town of Mount Royal Curling Club. She held many positions at the club and at the provincial level, including president of the Mount Royal Ladies Curling Club in 1980, president of the Quebec Ladies Curling Association in 1983 and president of the Quebec Curling Federation from 1992 to ’94.

A valued member of the Town of Mount Royal Curling Club for 45 years, Veinot was the club’s only female president. Elected to the CCA board in 1994, she served as president in 1998-99. She is a member of the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame and an honorary life member of the CCA.
