About Fort McMurray 

Fort McMurray is located in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). The RMWB is a collection of several communities with Fort McMurray as the urban centre.  

Fort McMurray also hosts tourist attractions, including the Oil Sands Discovery Centre where you can learn about the history of the oil sands in the region. Visitors can also check out Fort McMurray’s Heritage Shipyard and Heritage Park.

 About the Venue 

MacDonald Island Park is Canada’s largest recreation centre and includes the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, Shell Place and the Miskanaw Golf Club. Located in the Suncor Community Leisure Centre are several amenities, including the Syncrude Aquatic Centre, Legacy Dodge Fitness Centre, Canadian Natural Arenas 1 and 2, Oil Sands Curling Club, indoor running track, CNOOC Field House 1 & 2, Pepsi Climbing Wall, squash and racquetball courts, and more.  

The New Holland U-21 Championships will take place on two ice surfaces in the Suncor Community Leisure Centre:  

  • Canadian Natural Arena 2 
  • Oil Sands Curling Club 

Social events associated with the event will also be held in Shell Place, including the Victory Banquet.
