Who We Are:
Established in 1961, the Capital Winter Club (CWC) is one of the most dynamic and vibrant curling clubs in Atlantic Canada with over 425 members and 140 little rockers and junior curlers. We are a curling community that fosters the love of the game for everyone.
We are seeking a special individual to build upon our recent successes of the club by:
• continuing to grow and sustain our membership,
• supporting and engaging our active base of volunteers,
• promoting the sport of curling within our community, and
• actively supporting the physical upgrades planned for the CWC.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Manager plans, coordinates, manages and evaluates the CWC operations. Continuously focused on membership satisfaction and growth, the Manager ensures programs and events are developed, promoted and operated in a customer oriented fashion that provides a fun and friendly experience to the curling community. This hands on leader will ensure food and beverage services are delivered by a team of attentive client oriented staff. With a zest for developing partnerships, the Manager will work closely with the Board to promote the CWC within the Corporate Community and the school system. Seeking feedback on the operations and preparing and recommending business strategies to enhance the viability and profitability of the CWC is an ongoing expectation.
Qualifications:
Experience in Business Management, Administration, Hospitality or a related field – a Baccalaureate degree or college degree an asset
Two to three years management experience which includes the hiring and development of a team in a customer service environment
Sound understanding of fiscal responsibilities (budgeting, payables, cashflow analysis)
Understanding of the sport of curling and the expectations of club member
CPR, WHIMIS and basic First Aid qualifications (or willingness to obtain within one year of hire)
A valid driver’s license
Language requirement: English Essential, Bilingual an asset
Experience Requirements:
• In curling, hospitality, recreation facilities or related business management
• In developing and implementing local marketing strategies, including social media
• In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
• In personnel administration
• In budget administration
• In asset management including contracting and procurement
• In coordinating food and beverage services – asset

Salary: $40,000 – $45,000 per annum with a Variable Incentive Payment Plan

Hours of work: While responsibilities cover the full year, flexible hours are required based on the seasonal nature of the CWC. More hours are required in October & November and limited hours May through to August. The Manager has the flexibility to allocate her/his time to meet the requirements of the job.
