The Kenora Curling Club (KCC) on beautiful Lake of the Woods has an opening for a Facility Manager/Ice Technician. This job would commence on September 1, 2015 with the intention of this being full-time during the winter months, and part-time during the summer months. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with marketing experience to increase our membership and get better use out of our facility.
The KCC is a six-sheet facility with room for improvement to increase both our membership and the number of curling draws per day. Currently, we schedule 10 draws weekly, plus bonspiels and playdowns that the KCC may host that year.
Membership and the public access the facility restaurant which is open throughout the week. We have two locker/change rooms as well as a licensed beverage room that is open during league play and as required.
The Ice Technician will be responsible for all aspects of making and maintaining the ice surface. This will involve arranging for volunteers and staff, as needed. This person will ensure the ice making/maintenance equipment is in proper working condition and report any defects immediately to the executive. Ensure walkways around ice surfaces are regularly cleaned and maintained. This would include all windows to ensure visibility as well as any other duties as deemed appropriate by the KCC executive.
The successful applicant should be someone who has training/experience in ice installation, maintenance and knowledge of basic refrigeration.
The Facility Manager would market and promote the KCC to the general public and service clubs in the Kenora area. They would also schedule and negotiate all club bookings. The Manager would prepare facility and financial reports for the monthly board meetings, as well as maintain payroll books and complete bank deposits. This person would run the bar as required, as well as hire and supervise any additional staff. The Manager would complete a proper bar inventory. The Facility Manager would be responsible for the day to day cleaning of the entire facility. The Manager would ensure outside areas of the club were safe and well maintained and complete any minor maintenance and repairs as required.
The Facility Manager would be someone with experience in marketing, basic bookkeeping and the supervision of staff. The successful applicant must be self-motivated and have the ability to work alone with little supervision. They must also be able to communicate verbally and in writing to the KCC Board, and report as directed.
