This is a seasonal job, requiring a flexible schedule during the curling season. Our club operates between the months of October and early April, 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., 7 days a week. During this time the Assistant Ice Technician will work under the guidance of the Head Ice Technician. This is an entry level position with opportunities for training and advancement.
Scope of Work:
The Assistant Ice Technician is accountable to and is expected to perform the functions prescribed by the Head Ice Technician. This includes, but is not limited to, set-up and tear down of the club, maintaining equipment, record keeping, housekeeping duties and daily ice maintenance. The Assistant Ice Technician will be trained to perform the technical duties that will play a significant role in achieving and maintaining a consistently high quality of curling ice. The overall goal is to ensure that the club’s curling ice operation is both efficient and effective with special emphasis on consistency and communication. It is the long term goal for this position to transition into the Head Ice Technician.
Qualifications:
Previous ice technician experience and training as a Level 2 Ice Technician or higher is preferred but not mandatory. A background as a curler is preferred. The successful candidate will be trained by and report to the Head Ice Technician.
