Career Opportunity: Head Ice Technician, CN Curling Club, Saskatoon

The CN Curling Club in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is seeking applications from qualified curling ice technicians to fill the position of Head Ice Technician for the 2016/2017 curling season.

Reporting to the Club General Manager, this position is seasonal from September 2016 to April 2017.
The CN Curling Club, established in 1940, serves the west side of Saskatoon with five sheets of curling ice, restaurant and lounge. In its present location since 1965, the club is supported by a membership base of over 400 curlers of all ages and ability level. With up to five league draws per day, the club hosts four major bonspiels per year, at least one provincial event and frequently hosts a Saskatoon region play down in addition to local club bonspiels, private rentals and practice rentals.

Curling at the CN starts the first week of October each year and ends with the highly respected Grandfathers/Grandmothers bonspiel in the first week of April.

Responses from qualified individuals, who wish to be considered for this position, will be accepted until midnight May 31, 2016.

The following provides a guideline for your response, but we encourage you to add any additional information that you think will assist us in our selection process.

i. Experience
• Please provide a brief outline of your direct and relevant experience as an Ice Technician including where and how long your experience has been attained.
• Relate your experience with supervising, mentoring and training assistant ice technicians.

ii. Qualifications
• Please outline any formal training ice technician you have received through either the Curling Canada or other training organizations. Include your highest level of certification achieved. Please append copies of your certificates with your submission.
• If you do not have a formal certification, please describe why you would be uniquely qualified for this position based on your experience.

iii. References
• Please provide at least three references that can attest to your abilities to make good ice including former or current employers.
iv. Equipment owned or required
• A list of equipment you prefer to use, or own and/or wish to use at CNCC
