2025 Scholarship Program!

Applications open for Curling Canada’s 2025 Youth Scholarships Programs

Curling Canada is again investing in the future of the sport by awarding $50,000 in scholarships to 20 deserving student-athletes through its 2025 Scholarship program.

The program includes two streams: the For the Love of Curling Scholarship and the Fran Todd All Heart Scholarship. Each stream will award 10 scholarships to exemplary applicants who demonstrate excellence in curling, maintain strong academic standing and exhibit leadership within their communities.

The For the Love of Curling Scholarship, established in 2014, supports young athletes who excel on the ice and in the classroom while actively contributing to their communities through coaching, instructing and volunteer activities.

The Fran Todd All Heart Scholarship, now in its second year of operation, is the newest stream that recognizes student-athletes who embody the values of curling and prioritize giving back to the sport by sharing their passion with their communities to create meaningful change.

Since 2014, $315,000 has been invested in Curling Canada’s philanthropic scholarship programs.

Two of the scholarships are funded and presented by the Governor General’s Curling Club, an honourary society under the patronage of the Governor General of Canada since 1874.

“It’s because of the generosity of the Canadian curling community—including the members of the Governor General’s Curling Club—that we’re able to uplift and invest in the next generation of passionate, skilled, and community-minded curlers,” said Brodie Bazinet, Curling Canada’s Senior Manager of Philanthropy and Youth Impacts. “These scholarships empower student-athletes to chase excellence on the ice and inspire change off it.”

“The Governor General’s Curling Club is proud to support these scholarships and the extraordinary young curlers who receive them,” said Pat Reid of the Governor General’s Curling Club. “Each year, we fund and present two of the 20 Curling Canada scholarships, and for the past four years, we’ve witnessed how this targeted support helps shape future leaders who embody the spirit, sportsmanship, and passion that define our sport. It’s an honour to contribute to their journey as they pursue their dreams and give back to the curling community.”

Applicants must be 22 years old or younger as of Dec. 31, 2025. The application process requires a personal essay reflecting on how an applicant’s personal curling journey, including their support of the curling community, has influenced the person they are today, along with details of the participant’s curling and academic achievements and volunteer/community involvement. Students who have previously received one scholarship stream are still eligible to apply for the second stream.

A selection panel includes Curling Canada Board of Governors Chair Teri Palynchuk, Curling Canada Board of Governor Jennifer Howard, Curling Canada CEO Nolan Thiessen, former Curling Canada Board of Governor and curling leadership volunteer Fran Todd, Governor General’s Curling Club representative Darrell Ell, Curling Canada’s Senior Manager of Philanthropy and Youth Impacts Brodie Bazinet, and previous scholarship recipients Jayden King (For the Love of Curling & Fran Todd All Heart) and Emma Nagel (For the Love of Curling).

The application deadline is June 9, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Recipients will be announced in September 2025.
