Curling is Saskatchewan’s official sport, and CURLSASK believes it should be a sport where everyone feels welcome, valued, and able to participate.
CURLSASK is seeking an enthusiastic, relationship-focused professional to serve as our Participation & Inclusion Coordinator. This newly created role will help grow participation in curling by building relationships, reducing barriers, and supporting more inclusive, accessible opportunities across Saskatchewan. This is an exciting opportunity to help create lasting change by working with communities, clubs, volunteers, and partners to ensure more people see curling as a sport where they belong.
Full-Time Three-Year Funded Position with potential for extension
Location: Saskatchewan, Canada
Reports To: Executive Director, CURLSASK
Compensation: Salary based on experience and qualifications, while considering comparable Saskatchewan non-profit provincial sport roles
Benefits: Available following successful completion of a three-month probation period
What You’ll Do
The Participation & Inclusion Coordinator will play a key role in helping clubs, communities, and participants build a more inclusive future for curling across our province. This role will support people who may never have seen themselves reflected in curling before and help create opportunities for them to experience the sport in welcoming and meaningful ways.
As the Participation & Inclusion Coordinator, you will:
● Build relationships with underrepresented and equity-deserving communities and organizations.
● Develop and support outreach programs, Try Curling events, introductory clinics, and community-based initiatives.
● Work with curling clubs to help create welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environments.
● Identify and help reduce barriers to participation, including barriers related to cost, transportation, equipment, awareness, confidence, and facility access.
● Develop practical resources, tools, and educational opportunities for clubs, coaches, volunteers, and community partners.
● Support the implementation of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility initiatives throughout Saskatchewan’s curling community.
● Collect participation data, program feedback, and other relevant information to measure success, support grant reporting, and guide future planning.
● Work collaboratively with CURLSASK staff, Member Centres, community organizations, and provincial partners.
Who You Are
You are passionate about inclusion, community development, and creating opportunities for others.
You enjoy building relationships, collaborating with diverse groups, and finding practical ways to engage people in sport and recreation. You are organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently while managing multiple projects.
You do not need to be a curling expert, but you should be willing to learn about the sport and work closely with clubs, volunteers, and community partners across Saskatchewan.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring:
● Post-secondary education in recreation, sport management, community development, education, social sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Experience working with community organizations, volunteers, or diverse populations.
● Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
● Experience coordinating programs, events, or community initiatives.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
● Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable vehicle is required. Approved travel expenses will be reimbursed per CURLSASK policy.
Assets
The following would be considered assets:
● Experience working in sport, recreation, non-profit, or community development environments.
● Knowledge of inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and belonging principles.
● Experience working with equity-deserving communities.
● Knowledge of accessibility and adapted sport practices.
● Curling experience or familiarity with the Canadian sport system.
● Lived, professional, or volunteer experience supporting inclusion, accessibility, or equity-deserving communities.
Working Conditions
● Full-time, three-year funded position with potential for extension.
● Some evening and weekend work will be required.
● Periodic travel throughout Saskatchewan will be required.
● Hybrid work environment may be available.
