Competition Coach
The National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) Competition Coach Program is in the process of being revised during the 2025-2026 season. Since the revisions are in a pilot phase, program materials and delivery are only available in English.
What’s changed? Course content has been refreshed, teaching methodologies have been modernized, and Coach Developers have received updated training to deliver programming. We’re optimizing this program to create strong Curling Coaches who can support athletes in the Train to Train and Train to Compete stages of the Long-Term Curler Development Framework.
Prerequisites:
- Getting Started as a NCCP Curling Coach (learn.curling.ca)
- Make Ethical Decisions Online Module (coach.ca)
Sport Specific Training
Training is delivered in two parts – Online Learning and an In-Person day.
- On-demand, Online Learning – learn.curling.ca
You’ll start your Competition Coach journey by taking our comprehensive online training modules which will prepare you for the in-person Competition Coach training.
By training online, ahead of time – you can learn on your schedule and at your own speed.
The program is housed on Curling Canada’s E-learning platform – learn.curling.ca

- In-Person Training
When you’ve completed online learning, you’ll be ready to attend a one-day In-Person Training hosted by your Member Association.
You’ll get to apply the skills you’ve learned online – really focusing on delivery, brushing, skill analysis and practice planning. You’ll gain experience coaching under the guidance of trained learning facilitators.
Your Member Associations will have their own fee and registration processes.

- Evaluation
Coaches will need to complete a written practice plan and have an NCCP Coach Evaluator observe the implementation of that practice.
When combined with the Make Ethical Decisions Online Module, the coach will be considered a Certified Competition Coach.
