Dawson Creek Curling Club, B.C.
The Dawson Creek Curling Club is seeking a Head Ice Technician for the 2026–27 curling season. This is a unique opportunity to lead ice operations in a busy 8-sheet facility that hosts league play, junior programming, bonspiels, community events, and regional competitions throughout the season.
Working closely with the General Manager and volunteer leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of curling ice installation, maintenance, and removal while ensuring a consistent, high-quality playing surface for our members and guests.
Primary Responsibilities
Install and remove curling ice at the beginning and end of the season
Maintain ice quality throughout the season, including pebbling, scraping, flooding, and monitoring ice conditions
Monitor and adjust refrigeration, humidity, and environmental conditions as required
Maintain and service ice-making equipment
Work with club staff and volunteers to support leagues, bonspiels, and special events
Assist with planning and budgeting related to ice operations
Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to facility procedures
Qualifications
Experience preparing and maintaining curling ice preferred
Arena ice experience will be considered
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
Ability to work independently and manage seasonal priorities
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Valid driver’s licence
Position Details
Seasonal contract position
Ice installation beginning approximately September 2026
Season runs through March 2027, with ice removal in April
