The 2013 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings will feature 16 of the top teams in the country, including eight men’s and eight women’s. The first six teams in the elite field were Kevin Martin and Jennifer Jones, qualifying with victories at the 2011 Canada Cup, along with 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion Heather Nedohin and Glenn Howard, winner of the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier. Stefanie Lawton and Jeff Stoughton also received direct entry with victories at the 2012 Canada Cup.

Six more teams qualified on the merits of Canadian Team Ranking System standings at the conclusion of the 2012-2013 competitive season. The men’s side now includes Mike McEwen, Kevin Koe and John Epping, while Rachel Homan, Sherry Middaugh and Chelsea Carey will join the women’s field to compete for the right to represent Canada in Sochi.

The final two teams of each gender will qualify during the 2013 Road to the Roar, November 5-10 in the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium – an event featuring 12 women’s teams and 12 men’s teams
