The Sandra Schmirler Foundation was created in January, 2001 as a legacy to three-time world curling champion and Olympic gold medalist Sandra Schmirler, in recognition and celebration of her love of family. This was a collaborative effort between the Canadian Curling Association, Scott Paper Limited (founding sponsor of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts), Sandra’s family and friends.
Mission Statement
Working hand-in-hand, the Foundations’ mission is “caring for babies in crisis” through direct giving to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) facilities across Canada. The Foundation recognizes in these premature babies the same will to live that fueled Sandra’s battle with cancer.
Bringing Hope to Families
By supporting the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, you are helping babies to grow and reach their potential, because ultimately all “Champions Start Small”, like Sandra.
