M&M Meat Shops extends title sponsorship of Canadian Juniors
The Canadian Curling Association (CCA) today announced that M&M Meat Shops has extended its title sponsorship of the Canadian Junior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships through the 2014-15 season.
M&M Meat Shops, Canada’s leading retail chain of specialty frozen foods, began its title sponsorship of the Juniors in 2006 in Thunder Bay. It is also a full sub-sponsor to the CCA’s Season of Champions.
“We would like to genuinely thank M&M Meat Shops for their continued support and extensive leadership of junior curling in Canada,” stated the Chief Executive Officer of the CCA, Greg Stremlaw. “M&M Meat Shops is to be applauded for their role to ensure long-term stability of this wonderful Season of Champions event and its continued exposure to curling fans across the country.”
“M&M Meat Shops is pleased to announce that it has extended its title sponsorship of the Canadian Juniors Curling Championships through the 2014-15 season,” commented Chris Styan, Director of Marketing, M&M Meat Shops. “Curling is enjoyed by Canadians in communities from coast to coast, just like M&M Meat Shops, and the company is proud to encourage this sport at local, regional and national levels.
“Everyone at M&M Meat Shops is especially proud to support young Canadian men and women in their quest to develop and hone their curling skills. We look forward to seeing new teams of fantastic sporting talent emerge!”
The Canadian junior men’s competition began in 1950 in Quebec City while the junior women’s started in 1971 in Vancouver. Alberta currently lead all provinces with 15 junior men’s titles, while Saskatchewan leads with 11 junior women’s crowns.
The 2012 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors take place in Napanee, Ontario, February 4-12, with the winners representing Canada at the World Juniors in Östersund, Sweden, March 3-11. The 2013 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors will be held in Fort McMurray, Alberta, January 31-February 10, marking the eighth year of title sponsorship by M&M Meat Shops. The winners will then represent Canada at the 2013 World Juniors in Sochi, Russia, February 28-March 10.
