Venue Information
Mary Brown’s Centre (formerly Mile One Centre) is an indoor arena and entertainment venue located in downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Opened in May 2001, the arena can seat 7,000 people.
Having hosted the Montana’s Brier in 2017, it is currently home to the Newfoundland Rogues of the BSL, the St. John’s Jr. Caps of the SJJHL, the St. John’s Sr. Caps of the AESHL, and the Newfoundland Regiment of the QMJHL.
The history of the brier
The Montana’s Brier is probably the truest of any Canadian sporting championship. Curling Canada's 14 Member Associations as well as the defending champion Team Canada and the top three CTRS teams from the past season. The trophy was re-introduced in 2001 in Ottawa at the first Nokia Brier, when the famed Labatt Brier Tankard was retired after the 2000 Brier in Saskatoon.
