About the Opportunity:
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, which supports youth in gaining meaningful employment experience and developing valuable skills for the future.
The summer student will have the opportunity to join Curling Canada, a National Sport Organization (NSO) and gain hands-on experience supporting the development of programs that impact athletes, coaches, officials, and communities across Canada. This role is designed to provide practical experience in administration, digital learning, and data management in an office environment.
What You’ll Do:
The Summer Student will contribute to Curling Canada’s key organizational priorities while building foundational workplace skills through structured tasks. Responsibilities may include:
• Transferring manual records into online databases for Umpires and Ice Technicians
• Assisting with the development and finalization of e-learning modules (including design and translation support) for umpire and coach education programs
• Supporting data entry and migration for new registration platforms (e.g., Coach License / Competitor Card programs, if implemented in time)
• Assisting with general administrative tasks to support National programs and operations
• Ensuring accuracy, organization, and quality control of program data and materials
Skills You’ll Develop:
Through this role, the student will gain:
• Experience working within a National Sport Organization (NSO)
• Practical skills in data management, digital tools, and administrative processes
• Exposure to e-learning development and learning management systems
• Professional communication skills in a workplace environment
The student will receive ongoing supervision, guidance, and feedback to support their development throughout the placement.
What You Bring:
Required Skills & Attributes:
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Interest in administration, education, or digital learning
• Comfortable with repetitive and detail oriented tasks
Bonus Skills:
• Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset
• Knowledge of curling or sport systems is an asset
• Experience with e-learning tools such as Articulate or Moodle
• Experience in teaching, coaching, or instructional design
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for this position through, applicants must:
• Be able to work on site from our headquarters located in Orleans, Ottawa
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada
