Six teams — three women’s and three men’s — now have their plans set in their pursuit of national curling championships, it was announced today by Curling Canada.
Reigning champions Team Kerri Einarson (Gimli, Man.) and Team Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg) will be Team Canada at the 2027 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and 2027 Montana’s Brier, presented by AGI, respectively.
Two other pre-qualified teams based on their 2025-26 Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) results in each gender that met requirements that three of four players remain from their 2025-26 lineups will join them, it was confirmed today.
At the Scotties, set for Feb. 12-21 in Charlottetown, Olympic bronze-medallist Team Rachel Homan (Ottawa) and Team Taylor Reese-Hansen (Victoria) have clinched their berths.
For the 100th Anniversary edition of the Montana’s Brier, scheduled for Feb. 26-March 7 at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Olympic gold-medallist Team Brad Jacobs of Calgary and Team Tyler Tardi of Saskatoon have earned the pre-qualified berths. Tardi joined Team Mike McEwen, which finished in the top four of the CTRS last season, as the skip, replacing McEwen.
Each event features four pre-qualified teams — the reigning champions and the top three finishers on the previous season’s CTRS — but, as is the case for the 2027 Scotties and Montana’s Brier, when the CTRS teams don’t meet the three-of-four player requirement, they surrender their berths.
That means that the fourth pre-qualified teams for the 2027 Scotties and Montana Brier will be the top-ranked teams on the 2026-27 CTRS that didn’t qualify through their respective provincial/territorial playdowns. Those teams will be confirmed upon the conclusion of provincial/territorial championships.

Curling Canada can also confirm that the PointsBet Invitational will no longer be part of its annual schedule of events. Taking its place as a major fall event beginning with the 2027-28 season will be the Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship.
