Shuster shooting for Team North America

John Shuster is one of a select group of athletes that have won an Olympic medal for the United States in the sport of curling. In fact, the only time it happened was at the 2006 Games when he threw lead stones for the Pete Fenson team that earned bronze in Turin, Italy. Shuster was back on the Olympic ice surface in 2010 in Vancouver, moving up to skip Team USA. He will return at that role next month in Sochi with teammates Jeff Isaacson, Jared Zezel and John Landsteiner.

Shuster secured the top spot at the 2013 U.S. Olympic Curling Trials in November… but that was only the first step in process. It took a trip to the World Curling Federation qualifying event in Fuessen, Germany before the Duluth, Minn. squad locked down a spot in the Olympic field. The team won its final five games of the competition, including a playoff victory over Jiří Snítil of the Czech Republic. The Shuster foursome will be part of the Team North America roster that takes on Team World in the 10th edition of the World Financial Group Continental Cup, Jan. 16-19 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. “You Gotta Be There” to see the biggest names in the roaring game compete in the last stop on the road to Sochi.
