TSN broadcast crew to return for Canada-China game Friday

Canada’s final round-robin game at the 2021 LGT World Women’s Curling Championship, presented by BKT Tires, will be broadcast by TSN, it was confirmed late Thursday.

Canada’s Kerri Einarson team (6-6) needs a win over China’s Yu Han (4-6) Friday at 11 a.m. (all times Eastern) to have a chance at qualifying for the six-team playoffs, which begin Saturday at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park.

The World Curling Federation announced earlier Thursday that broadcast crews had received permission from Alberta Health to return to WinSport Arena after spending five days in isolation following a series of positive tests for COVID-19. After further discussions, TSN’s crew was granted permission to broadcast Canada’s morning game — the only game Canada will play on Friday.

TSN also will show the remaining two draws Friday — at 4 p.m. (Germany vs. Switzerland) and 9 p.m. (teams TBC).

As well, TSN will show all three playoff rounds on Saturday — the qualification round at 11 a.m., followed by semifinals at 5 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. — and the medal games on Sunday (bronze at 10:30 a.m., gold at 3 p.m.).
