One of the most popular events on the Canadian curling championship calendar is headed to Saskatchewan for the first time, it was announced today by Curling Canada.
This country’s best club curling teams will head to Swift Current for the 2027 Canadian Curling Club Championships. The event will take place Nov. 23-28 at the Swift Current Curling Club, which is part of the InnovationPlex.
“We are incredibly proud to welcome the Canadian Curling Club Championships to Swift Current, marking the first time this national championship has been hosted in Saskatchewan,” said Nolan Thiessen, Chief Executive Officer of Curling Canada. “Swift Current has been an exemplary host in the past and we know this time will be no different. This event perfectly reflects what makes curling such a special sport. It is truly a sport for life, bringing people together through competition, community, and lifelong participation. The Canadian Curling Club Championships celebrate curlers who are the lifeblood of our game, and we are proud to invest in this event as it aligns directly with our commitment to creating opportunities for Canadians of all ages and abilities to stay engaged in curling.”
Women’s and men’s champions from Curling Canada’s Member Associations will be on the ice in Swift Current in the 18th edition of the Canadian Curling Club Championships.
From a curling history perspective, Swift Current has stepped up repeatedly in the past to host major events — most recently playing host to the 2023 Canadian Mixed Championship, where the hometown favourites skipped by Shaun Meachem prevailed.
Swift Current also has twice hosted the World Women’s Curling Championship. In 2010, Germany’s Team Andrea Schoepp claimed the world title, while Switzerland’s Team Binia Feltscher celebrated in Swift Current after winning in 2016.
Other previous hosted events were the 1993 Canadian Mixed Championship, won by Nova Scotia’s Team Scott Saunders; the 1982 Canadian Under-20 Men’s Championship, won by Ontario’s Team John Base; and the 1975 Canadian Senior Women’s Championship, won by B.C.’s Team Flora Martin.

The host teams from Saskatchewan will be looking to end a lengthy dry-spell at the Canadian Curling Club Championships; no Saskatchewan women’s team has ever won gold, while a Saskatchewan men’s team hasn’t prevailed since 2014 when Kory Kohuch’s Saskatoon team prevailed. Darren Camm skipped another Saskatoon team to gold in 2010 for Saskatchewan’s only other victory.
Manitoba and Ontario have each won a leading four women’s titles, while Alberta has won three. In men’s competition, Ontario has won a leading five gold medals, followed by Alberta with four.

At the 2025 Canadian Curling Club Championships in Winnipeg, Ontario’s Team Lindsay Thorne (Ottawa) won the women’s title, while B.C.’s Team Mitch Young (Cranbrook) captured the men’s gold.
The 2026 Canadian Curling Club Championships will be played Nov. 21-28 at the St. Thomas (Ont.) Curling Club.
