The Scotties takes home award at the 49th annual Gold Cup Parade

The Kathy O’Rourke team took its brooms to the streets of Charlottetown acting as the official parade Marshall’s of the 49th The Gold Cup Parade, August 20th. In addition to the O’Rourke team, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts volunteer committee entered a float in the parade where they were awarded with best “First Time Entry”. A big thank you goes out to Kruger for providing us with tissue products which really helped accentuate the float – standing more then six feet tall was the word “CURLING” spelt out in various Kruger tissue products. With a display like that it wasn’t hard for on lookers to see that the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts was rolling into their city soon. The volunteer committee would also like to extent a big thank you to Reddin Farm Equipment for the use of their truck and trailor and The Crossroad Fire Department in Stratford for providing us with the use of the fire hall to work in. It is with the support of such members of the community that we are able to strive to make this year’s Scotties Tournament of Hearts a memorable event in Charlottetown. Thank you very much to everyone who was involved, we could not have done it without you!
