Tim Hortons Brier Provincial qualifying status updates – New Brunswick

As provincial and territorial qualifying events take place across the country, leading up to the 2011 Tim Hortons Brier, we’re keeping you up-to-date on all the latest developments.  Here’s the news from New Brunswick. Four of the teams that will make up the field for the Molson Canadian Men’s Provincial Final 8 have been decided in the battle for New Brunswick’s championship honours. James Grattan will lead his team of Charlie Sullivan, Steve Howard and Peter Case to the Miramachi Curling Club in early February after capturing “A” side honours at the Canadian Men’s Preliminary competition held at the Gage Golf & Country Club in Oromocto. Grattan put his home club savvy to good use in running up four straight wins including the “A” final victory over Thistle St. Andrew’s Paul Dobson. Dobson and his team of Kevin Boyle, Mark Dobson and Spencer Mawhinney will also be in Mirimachi after advancing through “C” side play. Curling Beausejour’s Jeremy Mallais skipped Jason Roach, Darren Roach and Jared Bezanson out of the “B” side, while Rick Perron and his “Beau” mates Grant Odishaw, Marc Lecocq and Jeff Lacey advanced through “D” level play. Four more teams will be declared after play at the Molson Wildcard Challenge concludes in Moncton on January 23.
