Rustlin’ Up Fans for the 2012 Scotties

With the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts coming to the heart of cattle country, it only made sense for volunteers to get in on the excitement of Red Deer’s “Cattle Round-Up” August 25th. The event – a major fundraiser in support of Central Alberta Hospitals – featured a succulent roast beef dinner, barn dance, live video auction with 50 market steers going up for sale, as well as a silent auction. The Scotties promoters added to the evening’s entertainment with the popular Kurling game… this time with rocks sporting miniature cow ears in keeping with the western theme.  They also brought along promotional brochures and prizes to generate awareness for Canada’s women’s curling championship hitting the ice February 18 – 26 at Westerner Park.

The upcoming promotions schedule includes visits to the Red Deer Farmers Market on September 24th and October 8th and “Business After Hours” with the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce September 27th. The Host Committee is always looking for new opportunities to promote the Scotties with volunteers available at any time for speaking engagements.  If your group has one coming up, contact Mandy Carroll at [email protected]. “You Gotta Be There” this February when Red Deer rounds up the best female teams in the country!  Prime seats are available by clicking here.
