The top 14 curling teams in the country – seven men’s and seven women’s – will compete in the ninth edition of the event, kicking off the new Season of Champions schedule.  The two groups will play in round robin competition with the top three in each moving on to the playoffs. The new qualifying criteria includes the winners of the 2010 Canada Cup, the champions from the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and 2011 Tim Hortons Brier, and the top finishers in last season’s Canadian Team Ranking System. The stakes are even higher this time around because the 2011 Capital One Canada Cup title comes with direct entry to the 2013 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings – the national curling trials to determine Canada’s representatives in the 2014 Olympic Games.
