But for club curlers around the Lower Mainland, the excitement gets underway early when the Cools Shots Club Competition kicks off November 20th at the Langley Curling Club. Cool Shots is the game everyone loves to play in the Patch at Season of Champions events.  The pebbled ice is replaced by a shuffleboard-style surface and competitors take aim using miniature rocks. The Langley shooters will compete against entrants from the Abbotsford, Royal City and Richmond curling clubs.  Two-person teams will play in a single-knockout format.  The four winning teams in each competition receive cash prizes – $60 for third and fourth place, $125 for second and $250 to the winners. They also advance to the 16-team championship in the Patch Sunday, January 15th between the morning and late afternoon draws of the Continental Cup. The stakes rise for the playdowns with $150 on the line for semi-finalists, $400 for second and $800 for the champions – plus a $5,000 cheque for their home club. Every club with a minimum of 12 teams entering the competition receives a pair of full event passes and the winning teams will be awarded two tickets to the Sunday, January 15th morning draw. “You Gotta Be There” to see the coolest shots in the world – on the ice and the boards – at the World Financial Group Continental Cup of Curling.  Reserve your seat now by clicking here.
