Rock-tober Hits Edmonton!

The promotions team for the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier will be rocking the town all month long with the new curling season underway.  The opening date for the Canadian Men’s Curling Championship is drawing nearer and that means event volunteers are stepping up the action.

October 6th marked the final downtown farmer’s market and the volunteers were right there under the big Tim Hortons Brier tent to host the bean bag toss and pass along ticket information. A week later they were back on the job when the Edmonton Eskimos hosted the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Commonwealth Stadium.  Paint the Town volunteers set up outside the gates alongside media partner CISN Country 103.9 FM to greet fans on the way to the game.  Eskimo fans had the chance to play a challenging football toss game and win Brier merchandise. The next major promotional event is the Alberta Tourism conference in Banff October 21.  The event’s presenting sponsor is Northlands Park, the complex that encompasses Rexall Place where the Brier will be contested and the Expo Centre which will be home to all the party action at the Patch and Purple Heart Lounge next March. Randy Ferbey will be part of the Tim Hortons Brier team along with the Brier Tankard – the legendary trophy he won six times in a remarkable competitive career. The Host Committee will be holding a Sponsor Workshop next week to meet with the dozens of corporate sponsors and individuals who play such an important role in the success of the Tim Hortons Brier. “You Gotta Be There” when Edmonton hosts its sixth Brier, March 2-10 in Rexall Place.  Double Impact ticket packages are on sale until October 30.
