The finalists and their guest receive airfare, hotel accommodations, tickets to attend the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup in Penticton, BC, dinner with curling stars Jennifer Jones and Randy Ferbey, and a chance to compete in a rock-throwing competition for the Grand Prize, valued at $25,000 (CDN). The Grand Prize, provided by WFGIA and contributing sponsors Transamerica Life Canada, Equitable Life of Canada, Boomerang Financial and Heritage Education Funds, is $25,000 worth of financial products and services available through WFGIA. The winner will work with a licensed WFGIA financial professional in the province where he or she resides to determine a financial strategy based on these winnings. Through this contest WFGIA is raising awareness of the financial solutions it provides to families and individuals. “I am extremely excited about our Rock the Ice contest, which has had a tremendous response,” says Richard Williams, President of WFGIA. “The winner will receive financial solutions WFGIA associates market to consumers on a daily basis as well as an education on the financial fundamentals that can help them make better decisions. These products can enhance the winner’s financial security or possibly start him or her on the path of financial independence. What an awesome way for us to showcase the difference that WFGIA makes in families’ lives.” The WFG Rock the Ice Contest rock-throwing competition takes place on January 11, during the 2013 WFG Continental Cup after Draw 8 at about 4:00 pm local time. Curling legend, Randy Ferbey, along members of Team Jennifer Jones, will be present to cheer on the finalists. With the presence of these amazing athletes, WFGIA will display its long commitment to the sport of curling, which began in 2006, when the company first sponsored Team Ferbey. WFGIA’s support of Team Jennifer Jones, the 2012 Canadian Scotties Tournament of Hearts Bronze Medalist and the 2011 Silver Medalist, continues the company’s tradition of backing some of curling’s best athletes. In addition to team sponsorship, the company has, over the last several years, been a primary sponsor of the CCA’s Continental Cup and the Season of Champions. “I believe WFG is one of the most committed sponsors in the sport of curling in Canada today,” says Randy Ferbey. “Kudos to them for taking their sponsorship to the next level by allowing fans to get excited and participate in this Rock the Ice contest for such an amazing prize.” “WFGIA has outdone it again, with such an exciting fan-based contest,” says Jennifer Jones. “I can’t wait to cheer on all of the participants of the WFG Rock the Ice Contest at the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup.” The company launched the contest at the WFG Continental Cup 2012 in Langley, BC. Contest entries were collected online and at WFGIA’s booth at 2011-2012 Season of Champions events and at WFGIA offices throughout Canada. About World Financial Group Insurance Agency of Canada Inc.
