A new look for USA at Ford World Men’s

After nine showings at the United States Men’s Curling Championship, Brady Clark finally struck gold this year. Now, he joins the field for the 2013 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship, presented by Booster Juice, March 30-April 7 in Victoria’s Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

It was a challenging route to the top of the podium as Clark took on three teams with an abundance of international experience in the playoff round. In the 3 vs. 4 Page playoff match, he defeated defending U.S. champ Heath McCormick and then downed John Shuster in the semifinal. Shuster has represented the country four times at the world championships and twice at the Olympics. Clark counted two in the 10th end to win the championship final, facing Tyler George, the front-runner at the conclusion of round-robin play. George threw lead stones on the Pete Fenson team at the 2010 men’s world championship. Not that Clark is lacking experience on the international stage himself, with nine United States titles at the national mixed championship and three in the mixed doubles competition. The Seattle, Washington team includes Sean Beighton, Darren Lehto and Philip Tilker. “You Gotta Be There” for the live experience of championship curling when the Ford World Men’s returns to Victoria.
