Career Opportunity: Ice Technician

Brant Curling Club and The Brantford Golf & Country Club

In a joint venture the Brant Curling Club and The Brantford Golf & Country Club are currently seeking an Ice Technician beginning this fall (2020). 

Between our two clubs we boast 11 total sheets (5 & 6 respectively). The Brant Curling Club is home to 12 day & evening leagues spread through 15-18 draws per week. The Brantford Golf & Country Club is home to 10 leagues averaging 10-12 draws a week. Both facilities offer Little Rock / Junior programs, League Rentals and operate 7 days a week. The Brant Curling Club has an experienced ice team that could assist the new Ice Technician. 

Responsibilities Include: 

The start-up and shut down of the Ice Plants including working with our outside contractor. Along with a team that may include volunteers coordinating the putting the ice in, and its removal. This includes painting rings and lines, installing hacks, and signage (Painting is currently completed by an outside contractor). Ensuring a detailed maintenance log is recorded Being available to respond to alarms from both ice plants. Maintaining facility’s tools and equipment. Meeting with TSSA and our contractor as requested and/or required. Preparing & maintaining the ice surface by scraping, pebbling, nipping prior to each league and/or rental draw while adhering to the highest possible professional industry standard. Performance of mid-season major ice maintenance during the Christmas Break. Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with the General Manager and Staff of the club, President & Board of Directors as well as club members. 

Qualifications 

Ice Technician Certification Level 1. Working knowledge of computerized ice plant control systems 

Ability to work with minimal supervision. 

• Good planning and organizational skills.
