Position: CURLING CLUB GENERAL MANAGER
Reports to: Club President

The Club Manager manages the business management, operations, and facility management of the Richmond Hill Curling Club.

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

Business Management
• Provide management and people leadership
• Receive and respond to member inquiries about the club and activities
• Manage correspondence with members and public
• Manage the RHCC website content and Club Calendar
• Configure the registration system and manage the online payment process
• Have a working knowledge of the club’s by-laws and maintain a master copy to be available to members as necessary
• Prepare monthly membership report to the Board
• Assure effective and efficient use of budgeted funds
• Maintain accounting controls including Risk Management
• Develop and implement policies, in collaboration with the Board
• Provide recommendations for the annual budget
• Understand and ensure the club is compliant with local, provincial & federal laws such as Public Health Covid laws and Food Safety regulations, AGCO laws, Rowan’s laws, CASL rules
• Undertake timely renewal of all required operational licenses (Liquor, Tax, etc.)
• Actively identify and develop sponsorship advertising revenue opportunities
• Prepare various reports as required

Operations
• Manage (and hire as needed) all Club staff including bar staff
• Obtain and maintain “Smart Serve” certification for all bar staff
• Purchase, inventory control and pricing of all bar stock. A working knowledge of Silverware POS would be an asset
• Ensure adequate staff are hired for regular operation of the bar / club needs
• Purchase supplies required for the day-to-day operation of the club and comfort of the members (Kitchen, Bar, Lounge, Change rooms, Washrooms)
• Remain current with the TSSA regulations in running an ammonia-based refrigeration system
• Have a working knowledge of the “Ice Makers Mistress” Ice Plant smart control system would be an asset
• Ensure all club assets and equipment operate safely and efficiently
• Manage Ice Maker
• Coordinate ice time for all curling sections, including preparation of the annual ice schedule
• Continue the relationship of RHCC in the community with the Board of Trade
• As needed, act as bartender for low volume sales periods and/or in emergency or special situations

Facility Management
• Be available to respond or have a plan so that building alarms are responded to 24hrs a day 365 days/year
• Retain, negotiate, and direct contract services to maintain the operation, cleanliness and safety of the internal and external club facilities, such as the snow removal contract
• Ensure that premises are clean and ready for use for day-to-day operations
• Manage or perform ongoing minor maintenance chores

Ultimately, the Curling Club Manager is central to promoting the enjoyment of the Richmond Hill Curling Club to members, prospective members and visitors. From time to time, achieving this goal may require additional activities not outlined in this document.

Qualifications:
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Strong client services skills
• Highly motivated and a self-starter
• Be a natural problem solver, able to identify appropriate resources to find a solution
• Appreciation for marketing and public relations
• A general knowledge of the Ice Makers duties would be an asset
• Curling knowledge/exposure would be an asset
