Curling Canada is a National Sport Organization (NSO) and the leading expert and growth engine for Curling Excellence in Canada. Our exclusive purpose and function are to promote amateur athletics in the form of curling in Canada, on a nation-wide basis.  We manage high performance programs (i.e., Team Canada,) select and manage national teams, and we have the exclusive right to name teams to World Competitions and Canadian Olympic organizations.  We focus on serving our members (the Provincial, Territorial or Regional Curling Associations) and all of their associated clubs and curlers throughout Canada, with a plethora of services and resources from governance to marketing, to finance, data, and technology.   

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Curling Fan Experience & Marketing, the Events EA will collaborate with our team of Event Managers, Marketing & Ticketing Manager, Athletes, Officials, and other key stakeholders to ensure the sound planning and execution of various Curling Canada events from coast to coast. 

Please note:  Due to the nature of this role, the incumbent will be asked to work a hybrid work-from-home and work-from-office schedule. Therefore they must be able to work on-site at Curling Canada’s Headquarters located in Orleans, Ottawa at minimum one day per week.  

Duties & Accountabilities: 

  • Oversees the event accreditation process including collecting required information, maintaining accurate files, ensuring completion of required documents, and printing / shipping badges 
  • Responsible for coordinating sizing and ordering uniforms for high performance team athletes for the Canadian Women’s and Men’s National Championships 
  • Orders trophies, awards, Champions crests, pins, and other Curling Canada giveaways for events, ensuring their timely arrival to events across the country  
  • Support of event lead to ensure an accurate and complete Championship draw within Curling I/O or any other draw management software in use.  
  • Collaborates with events managers to ensure the successful execution of both SOC and Non-SOC events by providing ad-hoc administrative support 
  • Interacts with staff members, athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers to ensure that they are provided with the necessary tools, resources, and information to carry out their tasks 
  • Creates and maintains accurate records and master files for all event related matters, including Ice Tech and Officials database 
  • Serves as the main point of contact for event operations inquiries, and acts as the key liaison between Curling Canada and suppliers for apparel, awards, trophies, etc. 
  • Collaborates with the Events team to coordinate shipment of events equipment, maintaining an accurate database of warehouse inventory 
  • Ensures all event contracts and related agreements are properly filed and secured. 
  • Support and management of ad-hoc events for celebrations ie. hall of fame, Curling Canada award of achievement etc.  
  • Develops event-specific organizational tools such as timelines, contact lists, detailed spreadsheets to enable the sound planning and execution of various Curling Canada events  
  • Other administrative duties as required 

Requirements: 

  • Post-Secondary Education 
  • Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in a related field 
  • Exceptional oral / written communication skills 
  • Bilingualism is a strong asset! 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable cross-collaboration and effective communication with internal staff and external partners 
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with the insight to coordinate priorities efficiently 
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills 
  • Productive and efficient in planning and executing work with the ability to multi-task 
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships that foster organizational success 
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to accounting team objectives and workload
