Skips with a combined 27 Purple Hearts between them will take to the ice at the 2016 Tim Hortons Brier in Ottawa after winning provincial titles on Sunday.

Halifax Curling Club “Rockin’ Again”

The sign above the front door reads, “We’re Rockin’ Again,” and inside it’s true. Ladies here for the Tuesday morning league are finally set to hit the ice at the Halifax Curling Club — the first time they’ve been able to do so in almost a year.

This week, John sits down with a man who needs no introduction, the reigning Olympic gold medallist, 2013 Canadian champion, and 2015 silver medallist, Brad Jacobs. A divisive force of nature, Jacobs has led his crew to numerous successes but perhaps should be better known for his candour off the ice. It was great to sit down with Brad as he prepares to go after his sixth consecutive Brier appearance (if you don’t count the one where he was busy at the Olympics).

Brier playdowns taking shape

Now that the field is set for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, it’s the men’s time to figure out who gets to punch their tickets to Ottawa for the 2016 Tim Hortons Brier. While some familiar names like Brad Gushue (NL) and Jamie Koe (NWT) have already made it through their provincial finals, four more championships got underway this week, and one of them already finished.

Another weekend of provincial and territorial playdowns across the country resulted in some very familiar faces (see you in Ottawa, Brad Gushue) booking their tickets to the 2016 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Grande Prairie, Alta., and the 2016 Tim Hortons Brier in Ottawa.
