Manitoba’s Chris Sobkowicz captured the 2011 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship Sunday in Edmonton, Alberta, defeating Alberta’s Bruno Yizek, 8-7.
The last day of the Round Robin at the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship saw the end of Alberta’s undefeated record and the elimination of any tiebreaker games.
It was a snowy day in Edmonton, but things are heating up at the Jasper Place Curling Club in Edmonton, as teams vie for the coveted 5-0 on the standings board.
Teams have arrived and are ready to roll at the 2011 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship. This year’s event is being held at the Jasper Place Curling Club, in Edmonton, AB and will run from March 21-27.

This past weekend, the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) hosted its first-ever Awards Ceremony to celebrate the heroes of the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. Four prestigious awards were presented to the Canadian athletes who excelled at the Games, one of which was the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Team for “Best Team Award”.
In April, about a month after the Olympic/Paralympic Games, Olympic and Paralympic athletes and coaches were invited to Ottawa to be recognized for their successes in Parliament and to celebrate with each other in Montreal at a parade and Gala! It was a terrific end to a great year in curling!
