They needed an extra end, but Team Canada found a way to win against a feisty Norwegian team on Sunday evening at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. Canadians Mary Fay (Chester, N.S.), Tyler Tardi, (Surrey, B.C.), Karlee Burgess (Brookfield, N.S.), Sterling Middleton (Fort St. John, B.C.), and coach Helen Radford, had to remain patient in a game that opened with three blank ends before the teams exchanged singles.

Team Canada notched two more wins to remain undefeated at the Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, on Saturday. “It’s a great feeling to start out at 3-0, but it’s a long week, and we just have to stay focused and really try and make sure that we stay strong. It’s going to be a long week,” said skip Mary Fay (Chester, N.S.), who with teammates Tyler Tardi, (Surrey, B.C.), second Karlee Burgess (Brookfield, N.S.), lead Sterling Middleton (Fort St. John, B.C.), and coach Helen Radford, now sit at the top of the leaderboard in Group B, tied with Sweden.

Team Canada opened the 2016 Youth Olympic Games with a commanding 13-2 win over Estonia on Friday afternoon in Lillehammer, Norway. “It’s a pretty cool experience being out there, and having that first win is pretty uplifting and motivating to keep going forward,” said Tyler Tardi, of Surrey, B.C., who plays third on the Youth Olympics team with skip Mary Fay (Chester, N.S.), second Karlee Burgess (Brookfield, N.S.) and lead Sterling Middleton (Fort St. John, B.C.), with coach Helen Radford.
